Incredible India: 16 Days in the Far East

I can’t even tell you how many times I have started to write this summary of my trip to Rajasthan March 22-April 5, 2007. Maybe 60 times since I have been back? That’s a guess. Every time I start, I quit about 3 sentences in because all the sights and experiences come flooding back into my head and I have no idea how to organize them so I don’t miss any important details that might convey exactly what I witnessed. Add to this the 800+ photos I took, the 9 full cds of photos my trip mates Ron & Diane sent me, and I am officially overwhelmed. It is happening again, but I am going to find some way to trudge on this time. I've changed my mind on the format for about the 30th time, so hopefully by blogging I can actually accomplish this!

I just finished reading a book called Holy Cow by an Australian chick named Sarah MacDonald who actually LIVED (truly unimaginable to me!) in Delhi for a bit. About halfway through the book she writes “India is beyond statement, for anything you say, the opposite is also true. It’s rich and poor, spiritual and material, cruel and kind, angry but peaceful, ugly and beautiful, smart but stupid. It’s all the extremes. India defies understanding…” Boy is that the truth.
